Forged iron, 28 3/8” total length with very thick wedge section blade with broad back fuller to the left side. Integrally forged grip, flat on one side with the edges delicately raised to form a tang band with three rivet holes to secure scale grips. Remnants of a cross guard securing pin. The Tatars were a Central Europe group conquered by Genghis Khan (aka. Temujin) in 1202 and incorporated into the Mongol Empire. They became part of the Golden Horde, formed by Jochi, Genghis’ first born son. Excellent excavated condition.
