Rare Ottoman Turkish Boar Tusk Pectoral

Probably amuletic. Crescent form, 3 3/4" width comprising two matching tusks seated in a brass (undoubtedly formerly gilt) socket with a pierced suspension lug terminating in a hook. The tusks are from domesticated boars as indicated by the absence of wear on the tips. Good patina. Both tusks with age checks and mottled brown coloration. See Held, p.121 for a related example.
