Edo Period. Forged iron with tapered shackle secured/released with a V spring within the case. The spring is engaged and compressed for release by a complex key which negotiates internal baffles. 2 ½” length. Fine chocolate patina to the lock and key with very old inactive surface oxidation. Good working order and characteristically fine Japanese workmanship.
