PRUSSIAN M.1889 OFFICER’S SWORD

$565.00

The standard pattern in fine condition throughout including its undamaged scabbard with near complete original black finish. The 29 ½” blade marked PAUL WEYERSBERG & CO SOLINGEN along the back. That company was active since 1840. This pattern was adopted the year after Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Hohenzollern heir assumed the throne of Prussia.  Examples ordinarily have a crowned WII cipher on the grip. This example does not and never did, suggesting it is among the earliest produced. Nice clean complete example with considerable gold surface remaining in protected areas, particularly the inside of the guard.
