CELTIC IRON AXE. Early Iron Age, C.800-400 BC.

Finely forged, just under 4” length with flared bit and butted seam square section socket. Mounted to a wood haft incorporating the junction of a limb and branch, it produced a very serviceable axe with less iron expended than with socketed construction. Well crafted.
