Called panniers, belonging to Col. Sir Francis Henry Douglas Charlton Whitmore, KCB, CB, CMG, DSO, TD, JP and Lord Lieutenant of Essex (1936). From Orsett Hall (Essex) seat of the Whitmore family. Standard issue double leather holsters inscribed in pen "COLONEL WHITMORE" beneath the flap and with original wood stretcher inscribed "Colonel F H D C Whitmore" one side and applied printed Whitmore's history and genealogy. ADditional note in an envelope reading "ORSETT HALL/Sold 1960 (Sir Francis Whitmore died) John Whitmore Carol to John Muirhead (Rac... Driver) Lots Harness to him of Eastlands Farms/Bradwell-on-Sea/Given to J Ambors of B-on C C.1962". Good used condition, the pommel strap broken and secured with a safety pin. Whitmore served in WWI and went on to become an Essex dignitary.
