This fabulous and fanciful sword from the central Congo, is an iteration of the Ngulu executioner’s sword. It has been modeled to an extreme to distinguish it for display and use at the royal court. Its quality as well displays the finest work of the smith. 25 ½” height plus the base, with pierced medial hatched overall. The back with a cleft base spear point. The terminal of sickle form with an extension terminating in a circle, with engraved reptile and stipple border. The grip is wrapped with copper tape encased in pitch. The most elaborate and fanciful example we have encountered.
