18th-19th century, rehafted for the 1899 Philippine Insurrection following the Spanish-American War. which resulted in America's possession of the Philippines. 72 ¼” length. The head remounted from and earlier spear and composed of pattern welded steel with distinct coarse laminar graining. Tapered wood haft with copper ferrule, painted black, perhaps for night fighting. Well preserved and probably collected by American troops at the close of the war.
