Type which served in the Civil War on both sides as all the militias were called into service after Fort Sumter. Bass hilt with foliate guard, notably avoiding the common Stars & Bars motif, suggesting a Southern militia as separatist sentiments were well established by the 1830’s. Black wood grip. 27 ¾” blade in bright polish but for minor smudges at the forte. Iron scabbard with about 50% plating remaining. Uniform fine age patina.
