North European c.1450-1600. Gilt bronze of shield form with a hole pierced above center. Over ¾” (0.81”) total height. Worn to identify the wearer as a member of the aristocracy.  .  Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored, on an 18” gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
