4 3/4" height of characteristic broad section with rectangular calkins. 4-4 nail holes with three nails and two partials remaining. The back slightly concave to embrace the hoof. Good preservation with clear wrought iron patterning, The tip slightly worn only. These typically are worn into the nearest nail holes, indicating that this one was relatively new when it was lost. It almost certainly was buried with a war horse killed in battle. At the time, only war horses were shod. Professionally conserved.
