Medieval European Sword Belt Buckle

13th-15th century. Forged iron, 1 3/4" x 1 1/2" with cross bar and tongue intact (frozen). Interesting wrought iron graining and a forge weld at one end of the cross bar. This is the buckle for a sword belt or baldrick worn across the shoulder. Waist belts, for swords or for securing trousers were not in use at the time.
