Gilt bronze, just over ¾”diameter, intricately pierced as a wheel with spiral spokes. II invoked Roman pagan protection (Sol Invictus) as well as the Wheel of Fortune. It is an example of the sun as brought into Christian culture influencing church architecture, art, liturgy, and mysticism. Crisply detailed with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
