MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN BODKIN ARROWHEAD C. 7TH-13TH CENTURY AD

$120.00

Forged iron 4 7/8” length with very elongated pyramidal point, notched at the base and tapered tang. Made to pierce mail armor of the period and well as padded and stiffened leather. There is some information suggesting that these were used to penetrate plate armor in the later centuries, however the general consensus is that they were made specifically to penetrate iron mail. The evolution of armor, archery and particularly the crossbow, shows that what is needed to penetrate iron plate is mass as with crossbow bolts, not “pointiness”.
