Mid-19th century. Bird head form, the alternative configuration to the sickle form, both about equally represented in surviving examples. 15 3/4" height. Iron head with slight ridge separating the edges from the slightly concave field. The forte with a back lug and line decoration. Wood hilt with waisted bolster and oval section grip. Hilt with fine glossy patina and minor wear to the high points. Blade with mottled patina, forged texture and small forging flaw. Ex. Baptist Missionary Society.
