MANDINGO SWORD

Good quality 23 5/8" curved broad fullered blade with original bright stone finish and scattered smooth dark rust staining. Brown leather encased hilt with tapered oval section grip and tapered segment at the forte which enters the scabbard sealing the blade. Cast bronze pommel with banded spherical terminal. Leather covered scabbard with expanded spatulate end and raised transverse bands. Hilt about excellent for the period. Scabbard showing a little more wear but sound and tight. Rare early example.
