Early 20th century, pre Mau Mau uprising but evidently used in that horrific movement as well. 15” spatulate blade reshaped from a machete. Tapered hide covered grip. Hide covered scabbard with V form ridge to the throat continuing as a medial. Shows considerable wear and use with the scabbard tip worn through. Remnants of the red coloration which rallied the Mau Maus and almost certainly captured by the British during the rebellion.
