LATE MEDIEVAL IRISH MAN’S RING SIZE 9

$245.00

15th-16th century. Gilt bronze with 1.5mm round section band expanded with trefoils at the shoulders. Large circular bezel with raised center modeled in relief with a saltire (St. Andrew’s cross) with clover petals in the negative space, cumulatively forming a four leaf clover. Four leaf clovers were believed to bestow the power to see fairies and relate to the shamrock which Saint Patrick used in his teachings. Excellent with the 24karat gold surface restored.
