Late 19th century. Known as owan, and used to served soup and rice. Large 5 5/8" diameter. Streaky butterscotch brown outer simulating terra cotta. Bright red inside with gold (true gold) clouds, conifer and bamboo leaves. suggesting summer. The display is intended as a surprise for the guest when he lifts the top and he is required to compliment the host. Excellent with very slight evidence of use. Have two.  Each.
