For soup or rice. C.1900. 4 7/8" diameter. The bowl of recurved profile and the top of low domed form. Tapered grip and foot. Tomato red body color throughout. The top decorated with gnarled branches with gold and silver buds and flowers, obviously signifying rebirth and undoubtedly used in spring ceremonies. All gold decoration is true gold in a lacquer matrix. Produced by the true lacquer (not paint) process which takes months of layering and drying. Additional details to the purchaser. Excellent and bright.
