ITALIAN (VENETIAN) HAND AND A HALF SWORD

$1,575.00
From a well-known group dating C.1470-90, preserved at the Armoury of the Ducal Palace Venice with other examples in private and public collections. See Boccia, Armi Bianche Italiane, plate 166. This example is evidently 19th century made as a complement to the group which could serve for ceremonial, parade or display purposes. 37 ¾” double-edged blade with a broad recurved crossguard, the terminals pierced with diamonds. Leather-covered grip with three pairs of positioning bands, a medallion between the upper two. Squared pommel with a central wheel stud each side. Fine uniform condition and a stunning example.
