Moore's A New and Complete Collection of Voyages & Travels. Published 1788. Very fine plate titled CAPT WALLIS on his arrival in O'TAHEITE in conversation with OBEREA the QUEEN while her attendants are performing a favorite DANCE called the TIMRODEE. 11" x 7 1/2" plate very finely executed, in crisp excellent condition, depicting the seated queen in conversation with Captain Wallis (in full formal attire including tricorn hat). Four female attendants behind them and three dancing. Only the queen, Wallis and the musicians wear upper garments. Fine characterful representations and lovely composition. Exceedingly rare work!
