Late 19th-early 20th century. Cane body, 28" long, the end carved in rings, the natural joint providing the seat for the spear butt. Elongated depression to seat the spear haft. The opposite end smoothed with a woven split cane band to accommodate the hand. The center with a finely carved mythological beast based on the squid, inlet in the cane and secured with split woven cane.
