Sudanese c.188’s, carried by the followers of the Mad Mahdi. 9” d.e. blade with calligraphic panels at the base, thuluth script specific to the followers of the Mahdi. Two-piece horn grip. Wood scabbard with original faded cloth covering. The brass mounts meticulously relief embossed in a crocodile skin pattern, emulating the Nile crocodile which was sacred to the Mahdi and his followers.  Excellent for the period with expected aging.
