Forged iron 4” greatest dimension. 4/3 round nail hole arrangement. The plate-shaped to the face of the horse’s hoof with a central oval hole to prevent impaction and infection. Excellent preservation with edge wear from use. These were worn by chariot horses and have been recovered at known battle sites. There is some disagreement about the invention of the horseshoe with a minority opinion that it was the druids, however, historians largely agree that it was the Romans. On Plexiglas display easel.
