Type carried by NCO’s patterned on the Austrian M.1765 Prima Plana sword. 31” curved broad fullered single edged blade decorated with foliage, trophies of arms and hussar’s helmet (some edge nicks as expected). Brass hilt with reverse langet cross guard and lion head pommel. Wire wrapped leather covered grip. Regiments of Hessian (German) troops were hired by the British from their home armies. The number serving is estimated as 30,000 with 7500 dying in battle or from disease.  See Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, #47.S for another example.
