C.1792-1800. French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars example. 30" concave faced triangular blade decorated with foliage sprints and lattice at the forte. Gilt brass hilt with flattened form reeded edge boat shaped guard. Faceted knuckle bow and cross guard. Reeded olive form pommel. Silver wire wrapped grip, complete with a few wires shifted from shrinkage. Hilt retains considerable gold overlay, particularly to the inner guard. Historic example of the model sometimes referred to as the "back from Egypt" pattern.
