FINE VIKING SCRAMSEAX, 8TH-9TH CENTURY AD

$775.00

Distinctive form as evolved from the Frankish model. Forged iron, just over 7” length with broad wedge section blade with elegantly clipped point. Thin fighting section and notably short which facilitated maneuverability and speed of handling. The trade off of course, was that it had to be used at virtually face to face distance. Representing the first phase of the evolution of the Viking scramseax and nothing short of iconic.
