FINE VIKING LUNAR PENDANT NECKLACE, 9TH-10TH CENTURY AD

$325.00
About 1” height. Bronze, cast and chased in minute detail as the crescent moon with a medial ridge connecting baluster tips representing Sol the sun and Mani the moon. The combination undoubtedly representing an astronomical event with supernatural significance. The top as a cone with a central nub, perhaps an anatomical reference, within a shallow beaded ring and five triangles of nub clusters, Viking worship involved the heavenly bodies on which they relied for guidance when sailing. Fine quality. Excellent condition with light surface texture from burial.  The 24karat gold overlay is restored and mounted on a modern gilt neck chain for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
