Gilt bronze, just under 1" (0.97") width. Raised edge crescent with foliate details. The back with five spheres probably referring the five phases of the moon (new, waxing, full, waning, and dark). Lunar amulets were worn as talismans against evil, infertility, or misfortune, particularly by women during pregnancy. The 24karat gold surface restored and suspended from an 18" gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
