Gilt bronze, size 9 ¼ with 2.1mm band with “knobbed shoulders” (see Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.73). Raise circular bezel inscribed with the image of a ram. The ram represented material strength, courage and aggression and was associated with Mercury (Hermes). The metal prows of war ships were called rams and that association survives today. Crisps condition with fine detail. The 24karat gold surface renewed for modern wear.
