Known as khodmi, these were made in southern Algeria and Morocco. Said to derive their form from the Corsican vendetta daggers of the 18th and 19th centuries. Dating to the French conflicts, late 19th-early 20th centuries. 6 1/2” blade with the slightly hooked tip. Decorated with stamps and with figural back. Integral bolster and fine wire wrap to the base of the two-piece bone grip. Red leather-covered scabbard with polychrome embroidered decoration (some wear) and shoulder strap. Superior quality and very rarely encountered with bone (rather than wood) grips.
