19th century from the General Harry Bandholtz Collection captured during the Philippine Insurrection of 1899-1902, collection which won first prize at the St. Louis Exposition in 1905. 71 ¼” length. Tapered hardwood haft with stepped pointed butt. Iron socket ferrule. Medially ridged leaf shaped head. Quite crisp. The head showing scattered oxidation speckles and patches indicating that it was of significant age prior to its acquisition in about 1900.
