The Viking period through the early Crusades. Gilt bronze, size 7 1/4. Rounded face 2.7mm width band. The shoulders are slightly flared and the bottom thickened in the Roman/Byzantine taste. Circular bezel with recessed scalloped base. The top is finely engraved with a bordered four-point star of Bethlehem in a radiant surround, enclosing a cross. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.103. Good quality and exceptional preservation. A charming wearable example with the 24karat gold surface restored. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
