10th-13th century, west Mediterranean.  3” length, finely forged with low ridge each side. Very elegant form with long slender barbs and conical socket retaining a fragment of the wood shaft. Dating to the most colorful period for the region, the Reconquista, the retaking from the Moors under the Cordoba Caliphate, by Christians. A flesh cutter designed to defeat the lightly protected Moors as well as raiding Vikings. See Nicolle 383c. Very rare.
