Forged iron, 4 5/8" length with conical socket (bottom chipped). Fine form point with rounded edges and double cusped bottom. Relatively thin and flat both sides, intended for use against unprotected adversaries in clandestine slave raids where the victims were caught unaware. The casualties of the initial attack caused panic and fear which allowed for rounding up the survivors with less resistance. They were then transported for sale in the Byzantine or Islamic markets. As well, many were returned with the Vikings to serve as personal slaves.
