FINE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR SWORD LATE 19TH CENTURY

Heavy silver plated hilt and scabbard mounts. Black japanned grip with a silvered cross. 29 ¾” medially fullered double-edged blade. That section was used in the Civil War and indication of an early origin for this example. The first 2/3 decorated with crusades scenes, Masonic symbols, foliage, and the owner’s name, crisp and bright. The forte with J R PETTIS & Co TROY NY. Scabbard excellent fine enameled cross in the crown. Quality and construction including the decoration consistent with its early manufacture. Good early example of a condition consistent with its age.
