Brass or bronze, probably originally gilt. 6 ½” height. The socket and base with oval cartouches of warriors fighting real and mythological beasts, ladies at court, seated and standing king and elephant head deity. All on a ground of entwined tendrils, inhabited in parts by animal heads. Beautifully hand chased with the relief crisply delineated on skillfully recessed ground. Excellent and representing many hours of skilled artistry.
