Forged iron, 8 7/8” length with elegant rounded heal blade with slight dropped point portending the Frankish scramseax (scramasax). Thin wedge section fighting weight blade with top oriented tapered tang. Excellent preservation with considerable original surface intact. Dating to the so called Migration Period when peoples either subjugated by the Romans, or beyond their control, moved into areas vacated by Rome. Celts and Franks merged with the Franks proving to the dominant race.
