19th-century example made from a hardwood sapling trunk. 54 ½” length, one end of the faceted pyramidal form and the other more rounded. The surface shape by scraping with the resultant slight “chatter” finish associated with precontact examples. Surface encrusted, with age crack, splinter, and wormhole. Random white pigment lines, perhaps ritually applied. Original Christies London auction tag for 12 Dec. 1983. Rare early example.
