Bronze, size 3 1/2, of excellent quality with radial and angular decoration to the expanded back support. Cast, with thickened bottom at the string rest and release point. Crisp with lovely patina. Made for a child of perhaps three, probably the son of a noble warrior. Such children were predestined to become warriors and were trained as well as acclimated to the tools of the warrior, from the earliest age. The only such example that we know of and a very rare survivor of the Crusades.
