EUROPEAN WOMAN’S PENDANT NECKLACE C.1450-1650

$195.00

Iconic example of Gothic/Renaissance “putting on airs”. Silvered bronze shield shaped pendant over ¾” height plus the loop. That form is specifically used to display family arms of aristocrats, often on pendants such as this. This example is made without arms as it was worn by a member of the peasant class which included merchants and trade people. Likely worn by the wife of a successful merchant or military officer. The silver surface restored, on an 18” sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
