Over 2 ¼” length (2.33”) finely made of tapered form with a nub terminal. Hollow to accept the belt tip and pierced. The front decorated in symmetrical foliage, originally gilt with considerable gold remnants in the relief work. Wear and minor distortion with fine patina. Museum worthy. At the time, swords were worn suspended from a waist belt. The baldric gained popularity in the 17th century when fashions favored a higher waist line.
