Basic form which was used through the Revolution and later, standardized with foliate modeling to the hilt as the 1796 pattern Infantry Officer's sword. The early form as seen here is shown as #160.S in Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, p.115. 32" straight broad fullered blade with faded blue surface. Brass hilt with dark patina. Wood grip with the wire wrap officially removed and fine glossy patina.
