See Sword and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann 160.S. Type later standardized as the 1796 pattern with folding side guard. This example C.1770, the Revolutionary War period, and likely used right through the Napoleonic Wars. Floral decorated brass hilt with heavy gold overlay significantly preserved. Silver wire wrapped grip. 32 1/8” broad fullered blade with foliage and military motifs to the forte, shows frosty surface. Pivotal pattern in English/American/French history.
