Buff terracotta Romano-Egyptian mold -made oil lamp with frog form body. 3 7/8” (2.84”) length. Ringed depressed filler hole within radial stylized flower petals. Cuticle spout. The bottom with a tetraskelion (swastika) form potter’s mark. That symbol has been used since antiquity by numerous cultures across the globe. Frogs were revered by the Egyptians as their annual propagation came with the Nile floods and represented fertility and rebirth.
