19th century, gilt bronze of iconic form with inscription ribbon supported by pierced tendrils. Cyrillic inscription reads REMEMBER ME and these rings were particularly popular during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 when soldiers called to service gave them to their sweethearts. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, P.137. Excellent with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
