Brass hilt, formerly gilt, with square and dividers langet, the other of shield form (edge bent). Chain guard lacking. Plumed helmet pommel. Ebony grip. 28” double edged blade with foliage, commandry and owner’s name. The base with GEO H GIBSON BOSTON MASS (constituted 1869). The surface with raised oxidation mixed with bright finish. Brass scabbard with fine hand engraved decoration.  Showing early hand workmanship throughout.
