The classic hamstringing knife complete with its hide scabbard and leather shoulder strap. Large example with 11 ¾” medially ridged blade. Wood hilt with medial wire wrap and brass encased top hat form pommel.  Hide scabbard with wire wrap and large cast brass tip mount. Leather shrunk making entry for the blade difficult. Shoulder strap end lacking. Blade with spotty black oxidation on tool finish. Grip cracked. Type which served the Mad Mahdi in the Anglo-Sudanese War.    From the Baptist Missionary Society Collection which was circulated among churches in England to raise funds for the Missions.
