Seventh Crusade period (1248-1254). See Arms and Armor of the Crusading Era, Nicolle fig. 84 for a comparable example excavated at Ras Castle, Serbia. 3 3/4" length, particularly finely forged. Barbed point, the tip with medial ridge one side and each barb of the slightly convex section with thickened back opposite the cutting edge. Faceted bolster and open seam conical socket. Crisp profile. Darkened from burial, the original surface substantially intact and minimal scattered oxidation. Exceptional quality and condition for the period.
